The Autonomous Women's Center stands in solidarity with the female students who have been subjected to sexist and misogynistic comments by the owner, editor, and host of TV Informer, as reported by students of the Faculty of Political Sciences on social media. Sexist discourse, attempts of objectification, and verbal abuse of female students are part of a broader pattern of political violence perpetrated by the regime and its supporters in their systematic efforts to discredit the voices of those fighting for justice and freedom. In recent months, this violence has manifested in various forms—most intensely targeting female students.

We are proud of and grateful to all the female students, and their male colleagues, who are actively fighting for a country where such behavior by the owner of a tabloid media outlet would be properly sanctioned. These students speak today on behalf of a generation of young women who know that freedom is not given, but taken. And they know who is trying—and how—to suppress it.

To the owner of Informer, who has repeatedly proven to be a promoter of hatred, state terror, and misogyny, the female students have already sent a clear message: Be ready.
And we send this message of support back to them: You are not, and will not be, alone in this fight.
